Best backpack I've ever owned. I bought it for school in 10th grade, and haven't used anything else since. The bag is built completely solid, has plenty of space and useful features, and is comfortable. I lost this bag in 12th grade, and bought the exact same one and have been using it into college.

I can pick this bag up from any part (except for the zippers I guess, but that's just because of the zipper's design), and the seams will hold. I've dropped my bag, dragged it, sat on it, spilled water on it, and even hung skis from it during my ski touring. Two years since buying it, it still looks new, and the seams are still as strong as ever.

My 15.4" laptop fits snugly in the built-in laptop compartment, and stays snug thanks to the extra padding and adjustable clip in the compartment. The bag also comes with one water bottle holder, a rain cover, and a pocket for MP3 players that have a hole for headphones. It also came with a removable cell phone holder that I removed because it was unnecessary. But this all attests to the quality of the product.

The only qualm I have with this bag is the padding on the back. The advertisement claims it encourages airflow, but to me it feels like it doesn't breathe at all. But it's okay because the padding is soft and the bag always fits comfortably. The waist and chest straps are also pretty handy when they're needed.

Overall, this is a great multipurpose bag. The laptop compartment, MP3 pocket, and water bottle holder are good for use on campus, and the solid seams, larger capacity, waist and chest straps, and the hook on the front of the bag help make this bag a great backpack for light backpacking and general outdoor recreation.

we got this for our daughter, just because of the color...but it has great features. she loves the mp3 headphone port, and the fact that the straps are very thickly padded and comfortable to wear. She can fit all her books/school stuff in it.

I ordered this bookbag for my 9th grader because his brother got a High Sierra bag in August. He loved his and it still looks like new, so I thought that this bag would be a good one to stick with. I love the price and the quality of this bag. It is roomy and still looks cool enough for my moody ultra cool 14 year old to carry to school. (It is ALL about the image you know!) There are pockets for everything from keys to ipod, to Mountain Dew and Snickers.

I ordered this product on Monday at about 6 pm and I got a call from my son the next day @ about 4 pm saying that his brothers backpack had arrived!!! I was astonished. That was fast!

I will buy this brand again as well as use Amazon again.

This isn't really worth the price. Based on strength and utility alone, I've seen cheaper backpacks at Wal-Mart, etc. that far outshine this little thing. This is really quite small, don't let the big numbers fool you.

I guess I could suggest this for elementary schoolers, but as a college student this really doesn't work for me. I remember carrying even more books in high school, so yeah, that's out too. When you get this, you're really just paying for the name brand. They pocket the difference by sacrificing quality.

1. Smaller than it looks.
2. Very thin fabric.
3. The joke they call 'padding' doesn't keep the sharp edges of any book from sticking into your back.
4. The straps feel very weak, and I don't feel comfortable carrying all my books in it.
5. The backpack has a tendency to 'slide' down; the buckle doesn't hold the straps well, so the nylon slides past it and causes the straps to loosen against your will.

I am a new troop leader, recently certified for outdoor overnights. Bought this sleeping for my daughter for our first troop campout. My daughter was the only one with a bag like this, the others girls all had the old fashioned flannel sleeping bags. The nights turned out colder then expected. All the girls doubled up in each other's sleeping bags for warmth, except my daughter. She was snug, warm and comfortable in the middle of the tent, by herself in her own sleeping bag. Basically, she was the only one of the girls that stayed warm all night.

This bag is big enough to fit a small adult (5'4") easily. I went back and purchased a second one for my other daughter.

ONLY PROBLEM: The stuff sack it comes in is fragile and will tear if you are not careful. But it fit beautifully in a small backpack...

Perfect.

Daughter took it on a trip for brownie scouts, used it in an open faced "Adirondack" shelter, on a cool spring night, kept her very warm. Nicely sewn, with an inside flap to cover the zipper.

I have had this bag for over 5 years now and have nothing but good things to say about it. I truely tell every person who is just started to backpack or even camp to get this bag. For the price it is amazing. This bag packs down to what they say but not in the bag they give you. All around and amazing bag and I hope more people support this company for producing such good quality that everyone can buy.

I searched for many months looking for an affordable backpack and I really got lucky with this one! It is a very durable pack. It has plenty of size adjustment options and clinches down very comfortable onto your back and shoulders. The side mesh pockets have a nylon lining on the rim which re-enforce the pockets and can handle a 32oz. water bottle. My sleeping bag fit properly into the bottom pocket and left enough room for 3-4+ days of gear in the main compartment. I would make sure to purchase the Explorer 4000 rather than the Scout 3500. The extra space will come in handy for multi-day trips. You should note that this is not a ultralight backpack. It may be fine for an adult but a bit to heavy for younger kids or women. If you are looking to finally get out on the trail for a few days you won't go wrong with this pack.
